Outsourcing to China
When it comes to outsourcing to China, Pacific Rim China has become a good choice, economically. Shanghai is one of the countries most advanced cities and although it is not the capital (Beijing enjoys that important characteristic), it has a larger population and is considered an attractive place to live.
It's also important to remain flexible in your sourcing and maintain some diversity. China is huge, with the Great Wall stretching to a longer distance than between Los Angeles and New York City. That makes it a golden opportunity for those outsourcing to China, to also take advantage of the market entry and accessibility of 1.3 billion consumers.
While lower costs seem to be the biggest drawing feature of doing business in China outsourcing, there are other reasons to consider. In fact, other countries may boast lower operating costs. The features that remain attractive are the government incentives, reliability and continued speed in distribution and infrastructure development that has been growing over the years.
China is an admirable world leader in the production of consumer goods, making 25 percent of the world's toys and 30 percent of the world's handbags and luggage. Over 50 percent of the globe's microwaves and bicycles are made there.
